Santa Fe, New Mexico Territory Post Civil War Post Maximilian in Mexico Armed with a Walker Colt.44 and a .44-40 Winchester plus a few bottles of Double Stamp bourbon in his saddle bags, Slocum is ready to saddle Ringo and ride against Apaches or look for hidden gold. Patron don Luis Flores del Castillo has informed Slocum about $150,000.00 left over from the time of Maximilian in Mexico, just waiting in the Tarahumara Mountains of Chihuahua for someone to come dig it up. Slocum is skeptical but eventually agrees to goe along on the venture. Although the elements against him could be Apaches, crooked Rurales, bandidos, hot desert, or adverse wheather, he figures half the money is worth the risk. The money is in gold bars and will have to be transported out once found. Senor Castillo suffers from ailments and can not go along but will send dona Conception, his daughter-in-law, to help with the recovery. Will Slocum recover the gold? Or will the Apaches and other evil elements get him? Will Mexico swallow up the gold? Will Slocum literally have his hands full of dona Conception? What a fine adventure this turns out to be as Slocum's Gold carries us along. It's sun and tequila in Mexico! Another fine read in the Jake Logan series. A bit outlandish at times but good times non-the-less. SLIGHT SPINE DAMAGE AND PAGE DISCOLORATION FROM AGE PAGES ARE TIGHT
