Charlene's Soldier

Charlene's life is safe and comfortable. Even though her husband isn't always nice to her, even though he is hiding something bad, she doesn't feel the need or desire to face it until she meets Relic, a soldier on leave from war helping a friend teach a women's self-defense class. Relic convinces her that she, and all women, are worth something more than the disquiet and disgust Charlene seems to live with every day.

When Charlene finally stands up for herself, her husband does not like it, and Charlene faces a choice she doesn't know if she can live with.
