Show Me the Funny Money
(2024)(The third book in the Val Fremden Strikes Again series)
A novel by Margaret Lashley
"Val is the funniest character I've encountered in a lifetime of reading!" Amazon Review
"Margaret's witty observations and clever turns of phrase make this another laugh-out-loud twisty tale as Val gets herself into deeper trouble at every turn."
Stuck working in a run-down thrift shop, Val yearns for a way outa destiny that doesnt involve sorting used clothes by how repulsive they smell. The only problem is, Val is in debt to her boss all the way up to her sweaty armpits.
Desperate to find a way out of her dead-end job, Val decides to clean up her act, even if it means giving up her most precious possessions.
But her attempt to turn over a new leaf won't be easy. And Val is about to find out that one good deed doesnt necessarily lead to another.
Especially when it comes to money.
Will Val end up awash in cash? Or go tumbling back into the poorhouse? Either way, someones about to learn that paybacks can be hell.
Love Val Fremden? Doreen Diller? Freaky Florida Investigations? You're in luck! You never know which of your favorite characters might drop by in That Time I Kinda Killed a Guy, the first book in my brand new series, Val Fremden Humorous Mystery Series. It's loaded with the kind of wacky characters and events that can only happen in the Sunshine State! (Perfect for fans of Deany Ray, Janet Evanovich, Jasmine Webb, and Gretchen Archer.)
What readers are saying about the Val Fremden Strikes Again series:
"Only Val can get caught doing something innocent and ending up in the deep end. And my oh my, what she goes through to find her way back to the surface is truly hilarious. This is one of the best ones yet!"
"Val is a totally unique character. Fun, slightly mad, and definitely old enough to behave better (but she doesn't!).
A hilarious, mile-a-minute ride alongside well-drawn characters with great friendships and a bit of romance on the side. Margaret never fails to deliver!
Thanks, Margaret, for this wonderful character. Sometimes I think shes me!

"Val's friends are a real hoot. I don't know where she finds them, but I want some too. They are so much fun!
Weird and quirky, that's Val. Wonderful read (for) anyone needing a good laugh and an adventure into the weird.
I have read many of the Val Fremden books, and whilst events in past books have led her to this point it is possible to read each book as a standalone. However, I urge you to read this fun series, Val is a totally unique character, fun, slightly mad and definitely old enough to behave better (but she doesn't!).
Margaret's observations and witty turn of phrase make this book a laugh-a-minute (Val describes her new colleague 'looks like Lurch's psychotic teenage offspring'!).
Genre: Cozy Mystery
