The year is 1945.

The Pacific War is drawing to a close, with Japan cornered and in serious trouble. America is about to land in the Philippines, Okinawa, and, ultimately, the Japanese Home Islands. Furthermore, the Soviet Union is brewing up plans to invade Manchuria.

First, the Philippines. General Douglas MacArthur is poised for his attack and to fulfill his promise to the Filipinos to return and kick the Japanese out. The Battles for Mindanao, Luzon, and the rest of the islands promise to be violent, as the Imperial Army has no intention of yielding without a fight.

In the Asian Southeast, the fight now moves to Borneo and Java, where crafty Private Soldier Ichiro Tanaka will have to continue to struggle for survival while the Allies pound the Japanese Army to smithereens.

The U.S. B-17s and B-29s are now able to bomb Tokyo and all of the industrial cities from the Marianas, while the Japanese have developed a new fighter based on German technology to defend their island. Japanese Ace pilot Takashi Onishi joins forces with Commander Minoru Genda to try and fend off the unending streams of American bombers setting the Home Islands on fire.

Through it all, U.S. Marines Dave Powers, Johnny Burgeau, and Eric Vandermain, or else the men of the 503rd Parachute Regiment, struggle to survive as they land and fight on the desperately held Japanese islands strewn across on the way to Japan itself.

Grand Admirals Koga and Yamamoto are preparing one last mission for what is left of the once-powerful and glorious Japanese Fleet. The last sortie of the Imperial to finish it all in a maelstrom of fire promises to be one hell of a battle as none of the sailors and officers are planning to return from the fight.
