FAMILY TRIO contains three individual stories about the Lunghi family of private detectives in Bath. Previously published in Ellery Queen's and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazines, the stories have been significantly rewritten for inclusion here. The stories are "Gun Point," "The Jane Case," and "And Maybe More."
The Lunghi family is comprised of members from three generations who almost all live in the family complex on Bath's Walcot Street. Everyone gets involved in agency cases, often making progress on them over meals or after-dinner wine.
In "Gun Point" Angelo gets held up after his art class and Rosetta meets a policeman who is new to Bath.. In "The Jane Case" the Old Man starts going to the gym and ends up finding a client there. He solves the case with David's help. In "And Maybe More" Salvatore goes to dinner with a woman who advertised in a dating column in the newspaper - strictly business, of course - while Gina (with Mama's help) unravels the mystery of Marie's new source of income.
There have been three novels about the Lunghi family (Family Business, Family Planning and Family Way, due for publication in December 2011.) Five other stories about the family have been published, with another due soon in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.
Reviewers of the earlier novels have said:
FAMILY BUSINESS
"Totally beguiling, with the lightest of dry touches."
John Coleman, Sunday Times
"I can think of no other series, anywhere, which features a family which owns and works from a private detection firm... This book is witty, evocative of Bath, and a definitive description of the workings of an ethnic nuclear family which covers three generations. Highly recommended."
Carol Harper, Deadly Pleasures
FAMILY PLANNING
"Mordantly funny, beguiling in the extreme."
Booklist.
The author, Michael Z Lewin, has been writing mystery novels and short stories for more than forty years. His work has won awards in the US, Japan and Germany, including two Edgar nominations for his short stories.
