Murder Will Out
- A Whodunit Murder Mystery with a surprise Plot Twist
A fellow member of a private club tells the protagonist Leonard Staunton that he is going to be murdered that very night at a quarter to one. Staunton is engaged to a U. S. Senator's daughter, Jeanne Baldwin. The action moves through three murders, blackmail, a Chinese gang, kidnapping, a speedboat, and even - a submarine.
The story is based on "The Purple Hieroglyph," a novelette that was published in Snappy Stories, March 1, 1920. It was so popular that it was filmed three times - by Vitagraph Studios that year, and with the title "Murder Will Out" in 1930, and "Torchy Blane in Chinatown" in 1939.
