Bounty Girl

Facing pauperdom in early Victorian England, eighteen-year-old Leopoldine Charlotte Dobbs chose to emigrate to New South Wales as a despised bounty girl. She and Mary Tremaine found work at Ravenglass, an inland property. Unlike the pretty and educated Mary, Leopoldine accepted her life - until she fell hopelessly in love. Lucas Johns, the overseer, was an ex-convict and a man of uncertain moods. He was also involved with Ravenglass's widowed mistress.
