Things Your Mother Never Told You

Ros Bloch's marriage of twenty years is over, her twin sons are about to leave home and her mother, Lilian, although dead for thirteen years, seems to have taken up residence in her head. Ros embarks on a programme of reinvention to keep herself sane: yoga, meditation and herbal remedies, which her ex, Mike, refers to as 'a load of old gumbaggley'. Meanwhile, Ros's best friend Joe has parted from his boyfriend of twelve years and moved in with her. When he loses himself in meaningless sex, Ros decides to follow suit and soon becomes addicted to Internet dating sites. But the discovery of Lilian's journals in a locked suitcase reveals a mother she never knew, and takes Ros on a journey into Lilian's past that has lasting repercussions for her own future.
