The year is 1867 and a young vaquero leaves Texas on a cattle drive. He arrives in Kansas and decides to travel west to Wyoming and seek his fortune. Along the way, he rescues two children from Sioux Indians. When the children's aunt comes to get them, the vaquero, children and aunt get caught in a Wyoming winter. A Shoshone chief shows the vaquero where gold is found. They sell the gold mine and head for the Maxwell Grant in New Mexico where they hope to buy land and build a horse ranch. It's a story of life in the Old West with all of its challenges, a story that's another classic western from the pen of R. O. Lane.
