Museum curator Anna Lundgren is a woman of science. She'll use the legend of a curse to promote her first major exhibition of Mayan artifacts, but she's adamant that the curse itself is only a legend. When others suggest that the curse killed her father, she's quick to declare that he was killed in an earthquake, not by supernatural means. Then the ancient dagger disappears, a man is found dead, and evidence of the curse starts mounting fast. The non-supernatural evidence leaves Gil Garcia, the homicide detective assigned to the case, with no choice but to treat Anna as his prime suspect. Gil is a smart cop and an honorable man. His gut tells him Anna is innocent, and the fact that he has decidedly unprofessional feelings toward her will only make him work harder to solve the case -- even if that means the woman he has come to love is implicated. But it's Anna's theory about the crimes that worries them both even more. If she's right about what's really going on, then she's due to be the next victim. The romantic tension and criminal investigation run neck-and-neck in this captivating novel of suspense.
