A novel by

On a chilly evening in a trailer park at the edge of Garrett, Ontario, fifteen-year-old Kade Hart falls into a firepit. The horror is burnt into the minds of the addicts that watch him die, but none so much as Cody Dean Clyde. After a stint at the Henley Recovery and Addiction Treatment Center, Cody is ready to start life anew. He’s taking his bucket of chicken back to his grandmother’s to celebrate when he runs into Terry Snider, who tells Cody that his drug-fogged recollection is wrong. That Cody pushed the boy into the fire. That Cody is a murderer.

Unable to cope with the news, Cody relapses. Hard. There is nothing he hasn’t tried, and that night in the back room of a defunct dry cleaning business, he tries it all again. But in his stupor, Cody inadvertently creates a new drug. More addicting than cocaine and more dangerous than heroin,
Slick is born. And once she tethers, hosts will do anything to keep her around.

When convenience store owner, Bill Asket, hires a boy who attempts to steal from his store, he is dragged into Cody’s depraved world. And he will do anything to keep the kid and everyone he loves out of it.
