A mystery thriller involving Dick Harborne, a man who appeared to be incredibly wealthy although he neither earned his wealth nor inherited it. As the book opens, Dick is stabbed in the throat, his vehicle is missing and there is no motive for the crime.

William Tufnell Le Queux (1864 - 1927) was an Anglo-French writer. His best-known works are the anti-French and anti-Russian fantasy The Great War in England in 1897 ( published 1894) and The Invasion of 1910 (published 1906).
