Alastair Mayer

Alastair Mayer was born in London and his science-fiction roots trace back through his father, Douglas Mayer (who also published some of Arthur C. Clarke's first works), to the world's first SF convention in Leeds in 1937.

Mayer is an experienced scuba diver and pilot who studied astrophysics, biology and computer science at Queen's University at Kingston, Canada, much of which influences his writing. He has been published in Byte Magazine and at conferences on space exploration and development, as well as multiple times in Analog Science Fiction magazine.

As a child he moved with his family to Canada, and now lives in Colorado, making trips back to the UK when he can (such as the Brighton Worldcon, and the upcoming Worldcon in London). He apologizes for the occasional lapse into American spelling in his writing.
