The fascination of France's wild, lonely Camargue was lost on Josselin when she was forced to go and live there under the stern guardianship of Kerouac Laballe. She bitterly resented his high-handed ways and only wanted to return to England as soon as she could. But then she found herself virtually blackmailed into marrying him. Why should Kerouac have agreed to it, though, when it was obvious that he preferred the wild gipsy girl Tamarisk?
