Beautiful Beast

You could call it whatever you want - a tale as old as time, a cliché or a story from a children’s book. I liked to think of it as fate.

He was the beast - the one I’d been warned about my entire life. I was the princess, untouched and locked away for safekeeping.

When he came for me, I should have been scared, I should have screamed, ran, tried to fight him off. I didn’t. Because no matter which way I looked at him, I couldn’t see him in any other light than that of a knight in shining armour.

Most stories are told of a young heroine taming the beast. I can only smile at the power that comes with unleashing him. He freed me from my cage, it’s time I did the same for him.
