C Company, 7th Cavalry Airmobile has moved to Tan Son Nhut, the vast airbase and headquarters of MACV, just outside Saigon. The Communists have been quiet, for it is Tet, a time of peace, when both sides observe a truce.
Until the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese Army break the truce, and stage a series of mass attack up and down the country. Including Saigon, where an attempt to take the radio station will enable them to broadcast a message from Ho Chi Minh. A call for the South to rise up and join them to bring the country to defeat and ruin.
Third platoon board their Hueys to fly into the city and relieve the beleaguered radio station. The Communists are inside the building and Third Platoon goes room to room to kick them out. They cut the audio feed to prevent the broadcast, but it is not over. The American Embassy has come under attack by VCs who have infiltrated the compound. The exhausted Air Cavalry troopers are rushed to the new fight, against an enemy who is determined to destroy the Embassy no matter what the cost in lives.
Amidst the chaos, smoke and bloodshed of Tet, Joe Walker and his Third Platoon buddies are pushed to the limit and beyond. Their lives hang in the balance. As does the fate of Saigon, and of the whole of South Vietnam.
