As an orphan child in Belarus, Angelika receives an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. Inside is a plastic horse model along with a letter and picture of the 15-year-old cowboy who packed the box. The letter claimed the model looks just like his horse, Blue Rocket. Now ten years later Angelika is set up on a blind date by her college roommate in Billings, Montana. When she meets the handsome cowboy she is reminded of the young man she calls "Her American Cowboy" but that young man was Colton Jefferson Rawlings, her date is Colt. Can the two be the same person?
Colt doesn't have time for women right now. He has a plan and nothing will derail it. First, finish college and become a large animal veterinarian. Next, establish his practice in his home town of Sanctuary Montana. After that build a house, and then when everything is ready he'll start looking for a relationship. But his roommate begs him to go on a blind date with his girlfriend's roommate. When he sees the beautiful Angelika, something inside comes alive.
During a weekend at his family's ranch, the two realize they have a connection ten years old. Can Angelika convince Colt that God sent her to Montana just for him? Will Colt let go of his plans and embrace God's? Or will he lose her to a rival cowboy? If so, will he be able to live without The Cowboy's Shoebox Sweetheart?
