In Snowdonia, an arrogant landlord, Richard Judson, is incensing local opinion by allowing his Alsatian guard dogs, who have been trained as killers, to run loose in a nature reserve.

First Satan, a particularly vicious dog, disappears. Then Judson and his bailiff, Handel Evans, vanish too.

Detectives Pryce and Williams are investigating, and Miss Pink decides it's time she did some detective work of her own...
