Life as a gravedigger isnt exactly what you would call an exciting one. Having dead people as your clients doesnt make for rich interactions. For Conrad, young orphan and apprentice mortician, that goes with the territory, and thats what he had been expecting that fateful night at the mausoleum.
However, as he pushes the door to the old monument, ready to clean up the place, he stumbles upon a fresh corpse that will forever change his life. Turns out that the woman sprawled on the ground, holding a strange book, is a powerful Necromancer who was just killed by a party of Heroes. And when Conrad grabs her grimoire, he is offered a deal: build the woman a phylactery and receive her tremendous powers in exchange.
He has barely accepted that the aforementioned Heroes burst into the mausoleum. One quick appraisal skill later and they find hes now a Necromancer class, which leaves them no choice. They are about to execute him when they notice something else, something that ultimately stays their hand.
They decide to spare the MC and take him under their wing, with the intent of training him to become a 'good' necromancer. The fight against the forces of darkness has only just begun and the heroes may have to fight shadow with shadow, and what better way to do that than by having an adept of the dark arts among them?
