A Back Room in Somers Town marked the first appearance of Tim Simpson. Simpson now returns for his eleventh adventure in Hung Over. There are plenty of reasons why Simpson should stay away from buying the Crockingham Collection of equestrian artworks as an investment for his employer. One is that the collection includes works by the gifted but controversial Sir Alfred Munnings. Hard swearing, hard riding, hard drinking and reactionary, the late Sir Alfred aroused fierce passions in the art world. Even more persuavive reasons to avoid the collection are a murdered art dealer, a drowned woman, a bomb under Tim's car, and the hostility of the collection's owner - not to mention the potential wrath of his wife Sue, who thoroughly deplores the idea. And that's just for starters in the case that Tim can't leave alone, even though it turns out to be the most lethal and shocking one of his career.
