Ruben’s instructions are simple. He is to drive the car where she says, do what she says, and exactly as she says, otherwise, stay out of her way. It works fine, until they cross a border that is not in her plans, with a newborn born baby that is clearly not hers, and are arrested by an incorruptible customs officer on suspicion of child smuggling. While waiting for detectives to come from the capital hundreds of miles away, the customs officer and his prisoners discover common humanity, and forge a bond close to kinship.
