A Blissful Defeat
For the last five years Drake ignored the fact that he had been asked by his King to wed a woman and rarely thought of her. When he had been injured and unable to lead the warriors into battle anymore it was suggested that he go to the Highlands and join her. Not knowing what to expect, he was very pleased to discover she was a stunning, sensual beauty. The war started the moment he walked through the door, and he was determined to do whatever was necessary to defeat her. Nothing was going to stop him living a peaceful life. He expected an easy victory, but she was too tenacious to admit she had no hope of winning. Being patient didn’t work, seducing her he knew would be a wasted effort and after months of trying to gain her cooperation he couldn’t think what else to do. He had no plans of becoming emotionally attached to her, yet all he craved was to hold her in his arms. It was only when their unwanted guests turned up that turned their relationship around. All he longed for and wanted was within his reach, and it was then he discovered she had stolen his heart without him ever knowing.
The very second the marauding, villainous Sassenach turned up, Kendra knew her life would never be the same again. Since he had disrespected her and never honored his wedding vows, she despised him even more. She was never going to forgive him or his King for marrying her without her knowledge or permission. She knew he came with intention of stealing everything from her, and she would be left with nothing. There was no way she was going to surrender anything, and she intended to fight him to her very last breath. He wanted peace and comfort she would give him hell instead, everything that he desired she would give him the very opposite of what he craved. Slowly though she loathed the fact she was starting to admire him and when he stopped joining her in bed, she only admitted to herself that she missed his great hulking body and warmth lying beside her, she also could never forget the most blissful, passionate moments in his arms. When danger arrived, she put her animosity aside and learning he might be dead or dying she discovered her feeling for him. No matter how dangerous it was she would do everything she could to try and save him.
