Rise Up, My Love

Our reader's verdict: "Light fiction at its best." Peter and Merle Christmas, are a selfish, pleasure-seeking couple.They have two daughters; Mary Ann, on whom they lavish sporadic attention, and Jenny, who brings 'humiliation' because of a slight deformity. Mary Ann enfolds Jenny with a fierce, protective love, and together with the family's declining boat-building business, they become her all-consuming passion. Just as Mary Ann thinks she has been successful in rescuing the business and finding refuge for herself and Jenny, fate steps in and destroys all her efforts.
