BOOK SUMMARY

Richard Lee may be gone, but he's not yet departed. In this captivating Christmas novella, as the unseen observer of the family events that follow his own death, Richard watches his children return to their hometown to bury their father and grapple with their loss. There is Jonathan, the starving artist whose talent languishes beneath a burden of failure. David is successful, polished, and unapologetically bitter. And Ruth, who left the small-town for the big city in search of fulfillment but is worn out by guilt. Powerless to act, Richard can do nothing to help his children resolve their struggles. He can only watch as pain and truth surface in each of their lives and healing begins. Being dead isn't like what Richard Lee had expected. For instance, he's able to eavesdrop on the grown-up children he's left behind. He struggles with where he is -- Purgatory? Hell? And he evaluates how he raised his children as he watches them mourn. Set just before the celebration of Christmas, Blue Christmas is a compelling drama of a grieving family in search of meaning, and, ultimately, in search of Christ in their lives.
