Mike Leo, a seasoned policeman in the area finds himself chasing down the perpetrators of an unsuccessful bank robbery; two males and possibly one female.
The two males, Jeb & Lee have picked up a young and impressionable hitchhiker, Judy and convinced her to act as getaway driver.
However, when the robbery doesn't go to plan, the three escape into the forest. Unbeknownst to them, they have Officer Leo in tow not far behind...

Colonel Paul Moller, an Air Force pilot is taking off when he and his crew begin to have trouble with all four engines of the plane. They quickly realise there is nothing more that can be done and bale out, leaving the plane to crash to the ground in a fiery explosion.
When he lands, he meets a man names John, who helps him deal with the injuries sustained in baling out. Moller is also informed that a large fire has broken out in the forest and could well be moving their way.
In their move to escape the fire, they bump into Kathy Ryan, who appears to be a journalist looking for a scoop on the fire. The three make their way together towards any safety they can find.
So begins the mad scramble to safety for all those within the reach of the violent, uncontrollable fire; devouring all in its path.
