Thrillers are popular reading fare, but Redcap is not exemplary. Published in 1961, the story is dated: Cold War superpower treaties and atomic weapons secrets require protection from Commander Shaw whose life is immediately (and predictably) endangered. Shaw is McCutchan's British Defense Intelligence agent, a James Bond-like character without the witty ironies of 007. Narrator Richard Mitchley reads competently, but you might be better off to save your listening time and audiobook money for a more current plot. N.B.H. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine
Genre: Thriller
