Nisha was tasked with protecting the Decanting technology her mother had developed as an eager scientist back on Earth. When her mother realized her knowledge and life’s work was being used to create slaves, she left Earth far behind.
But now, Nisha has a new mission. A heartless Earth corporation has set up shop far from Earth and its laws. They’re getting ready to Decant their first round of human-hybrid babies to sell off as slaves to anyone with the money to buy them. Her mother might have died several years ago, but Nisha is determined her legacy won’t be used for evil again.
She’s only one woman, so how can she stop a powerful corporation?
She’d heard rumors that a species called the Hissa have found they are breeding compatible with Decanted women. It doesn’t surprise Nisha, because her mother used all kinds of non-human DNA to create the Decanted. She’s not sure she can convince these Hissa to help, but she doesn’t have much of a choice.
Warik
As a skilled investigator, he’s prepared to spend his life tracking the sales of Decanted women so the Hissa military can rescue them and bring them back to the Hissa homeworld to find mates. With over two hundred thousand lonely Hissa males alive after losing their female population, and only handfuls of Decanted women being found every year, Warik is under no illusion that he’ll ever have a mate. It’s a lonely but important life.
Then he’s given a mission: Meet with a mysterious human who claims to have information on an illegal Decanting farm and assess the validity of her claims. He expects to meet a greedy, self-centered human. What he gets is a woman unsure of who she can trust but desperate to save innocent lives.
He’s determined to be the Hissa she decides to trust.
