Dust swirled around the battered pickup as a hot pink blur rocketed into the farmyard. A Lamborghini, the color of a sunrise in Miami, screeched to a halt, and out stepped Peaches Monroe Hopkins. Clad in a head-to-toe pink ensemble – mini skirt, long sleeve tee, a belt that proudly declared Texas as her new home, and a cowgirl hat perched atop a mane of jet black hair that reached past her juicy ahem… she looked like a misplaced Barbie doll. Yet, the glint of steel in her dark brown eyes hinted at a strength that went beyond the runway, and intrigue sparked fire in my gut. Peaches, a walking contradiction and slight annoyance in my peaceful world of beige and green, had become an unwelcome itch in my brain. I couldn't explain it, but this so-called city girl turned farmer overnight flipped my world upside down, and the coldest part about it… I welcome it. She doesn’t know it yet, but she became mine the moment she stepped out of that car. It's time to show Peaches who runs shit around here.
