REAL PLACE, REAL MAGIC.
Glastonbury: the most mysterious town in the UK, linked for centuries with King Arthur and the Holy Grail. And something else... something darker.
In this novel (originally published under the name Thom Madley and aimed at a young-adult audience) thirteen year old Marco is dumped in Glasto to spend the summer with his old-hippy grandparents, Woolly and Nancy. He thinks the town's weird history is rubbish, until Woolly presents him with a pendulum and shows him how to dowse. And then it gets really strange.
Meanwhile, another newcomer, the new curate's daughter, Rosa, is tormented by the presence of an old monk from the Abbey, which backs on to her bedroom. A toxic darkness is gathering again over the ancient Isle of Avalon.
Marco's Pendulum and its sequel, Marco and the Blade of Night will introduce a new generation to Phil Rickman... as well as enlightening adult readers of The Chalice about what happens next in the haunted streets and the Abbey ruins... and on the enchanted slopes of the enigmatic Glastonbury Tor.
Genre: Children's Fiction
