Sunshine Out of Shadows

(1971)
A novel by

Sister Anita Bowers found nursing in a hospital in the heart of the African bush very different from what she had been used to in England - heat, insects, hostile and superstitious Africans and the ever present opposition of their witch doctors all added up to a gruelling if exciting life. But there were plenty of compensations - notably among her follow doctors and nurse. Anita and the other English Sister, Jennifer Maine, and the two doctors, Bob Travers and Adam Williams made a splendid team who were also the best of friends when off duty. The only snag was that Anita couldn't help thinking of Bob, it was plain to see, had eyes only for the glamorous Jenifer - while everyone combined to link Anita with Adam, for whom she had only pleasantly friendly feelings! But all these tangles - and many more serious problems were happily straightened out in the end.
