Readers are swept along with immigrant Cira Valentino from Italy and across the vast Atlantic to Ellis Island and New York City, where she falls in love with blue blood Thatcher Montgomery. While this is a work of fiction, the premise was inspired by the immigration experience of the author’s great aunt, Loretta Corsi.
