Lee Packard and Hazel Manners wanted money, big money. More money than Packard could make as a small-time dip working the crowds around Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square. A bank robbery seemed just the thing, especially when the money had already been stolen and all they had to do was find it. It would have been easy but for the other people involved. These included Chief Superintendent Donald Martin of Scotland Yard, to whom the puzzle at first seemed to have no clues and no solution.
