Shifting Gears

Grady Hart is ready to move on. He's been crew chief for Hart Racing for years because they couldn't afford to hire anyone else. But now, with an influx of cash comes opportunity: Grady wants to quit Hart Racing and start his own company. The only hitch? He needs to find someone to replace him and then train that person up to do his job before the next season gets underway. The last person he'd expected to want the position is the very lovely, very proper Annabelle Murray, the literal Girl Next Door who's definitely grown up since high school.

Annabelle came back to town after her divorce, feeling that her life was at an all-time low. Broke, with no contacts left in Charlotte since she left years before, she's forced to move back in with her mother - which means also living with her mother's impossibly high, restrictive standards of ladylike behavior. Annabelle is desperate to start over. She's more than willing to take the chance to prove herself as crew chief. But Momma's disapproval is the least of her worries when Annabelle realizes that her crush on Grady Hart is developing into a full-blown distraction. Because no matter how wonderful Grady is, is he just another man who blocks Annabelle's path to independence?
