After Wes Talon, Jubal Stone’s newest deputy marshal, travels to Grant, Texas by train to bury his ma, he stops off at Wolf City for the night. That proves to be a bad mistake. While there, Talon has an altercation with a drunk man. When the man is later found dead in an alley the next morning, Wes is arrested and quickly sentenced to hang with barely a trial.
Jubal Stone will have to move fast if he is to keep Wes Talon alive and as one of his deputies. The men who framed Talon mean to have him dead. Soon, however, these conspirators will come face to face with Marshal Jubal Stone. When they conclude that they can’t shake him, they will pay men to kill him. But like many across the frontier had found, Jubal Stone don’t kill so easy.
