Return to Windward

(2024)
A novel by

'She pressed her back against the wall and thought again of Windward. Not the Windward of yesterday, but the Windward of yesteryear, where she'd grown up. A house, a place, a crazy world in its own orbit.'

Windward: a grand old house crumbling at the edges, set in vast grounds a little unkempt. Windward: an artists' commune; famous, notorious, joyous, dangerous. Windward: the place of Oriana Taylor's birth, once her home such a long time ago, but still occupying her dreams - and her nightmares.

Born and brought up amongst painters and sculptors, musicians and poets, actors and eccentrics, Oriana grew up in a house full of extraordinary people. The Bedwell brothers, Malachy and Jed, shared their childhood and adolescence with her. In the rambling old mansion and out in the tangled gardens, their dreams and desires could take flight unchecked.
But too much freedom comes at a price. Something happened the summer they were fifteen. Oriana hasn't been since. Now, out of the blue, she's back.
