When the governor of Jamaica sends an expedition up the San Juan for an enormous potential reward, Nelson believes his time has come. If he succeeds, England will control the whole continent, and he will be a hero. But this is no easy task and within weeks of docking, Nelson is on a gruesome killing ground with no likelihood of survival . . .
BOOK 2: THE DREADFUL HAVOC
After a disastrous expedition up the San Juan, Nelson is a dead man walking. Only the intervention of Captain Cornwallis saved him from dying on the Port Royal Shore. Nelson finds himself in the care of Mrs Cuba, whose voodoo methods to save him are frowned upon. He is racked by fever and pain, and too sick to take up command as appointed captain. But he is still sent back to England, a wreck and on a voyage he might not see through.
BOOK 3: THE POWDER KEG
