In addition, Mr. Nye writes the oldest column on straightaway racing in the United States, UNDER THE WIRE, for the pages of Quarter Horse of the Pacific Coast, and GREAT MOMENTS IN QUARTER RACING HISTORY, which appears each month in Quarter Racing World. Among Mr Nye's specialized works, SPEED AND THE QUARTER HORSE is preceded by OUTSTANDING MODERN QUARTER HORSE SIRES (Morrow, 1948); CHAMPIONS OF THE QUARTER TRACKS (Coward-McCann, 1950); and the best-seller, also a book club selection, THE COMPLETE BOOK OF THE QUARTER HORSE (A. S. Barnes, 1964). He is also an outstanding western writer, author of some ninety-five novels, a charter member and twice president of Western Writers of America.
