The world has been desperately waiting for the trial of Chad Daybell to begin, itching to hear his version of events.
How will he explain what happened to 7-year-old JJ and his beautiful 16-year-old big sister, Tylee? And how their remains ended up buried on his land.
Finally, the trial has started, and we are eager to delve into the details of this devastatingly mind-blowing case.
However, we fear that although the details as we know them are already convoluted and confusing, things are likely to get even more twisted and baffling as the trial pans out, but first, a recap
In part one, we introduced you to Lori and Chad Daybell.
Lori - a beautiful and seemingly intelligent wife to Charles and a loving mother of three.
Chad - an author of doomsday fiction, husband to Tammy, and father of five.
The couple had been introduced by a mutual friend at a conference called Preparing a People.
We covered the disappearance and subsequent investigation in searching for Lori's youngest two children, JJ Vallow (7) and Tylee Ryan (16).
At first, Lori and Chad swore the children were in a safe place, saying their only aim was to protect them. However, the detectives working the case soon became fearful that something terrible had happened to the children.
Eventually, on June 9th, 2020, two sets of human remains were discovered buried in a pet cemetery on Chads land. It was later confirmed that they were indeed the bodies of JJ and Tylee.
This in itself was mind-blowing, but when taking a deep dive into Loris past, the authorities uncovered a far more sinister story. What had happened to at least two of her former husbands?
Joseph Ryan, father to one of Loris children, Tylee Ryan, died of an apparent heart attack. His body had been cremated, and so without a body, his exact cause of death can never be investigated or confirmed.
And Charles Vallow, adoptive father and natural uncle to JJ Vallow had been shot to death by Loris brother Alex.
Both men had substantial life insurance policies in place.
It had also emerged that Charles had contacted the police numerous times in the months leading up to his death, telling them of his concerns about his wifes mental health and the welfare of his children, but it appeared nobody took him seriously.
And then there was Chads first wife and mother of his children, Tammy Daybell, who, after being the victim of an attempted shooting the week earlier, died suddenly in her bed on October 19th, 2019. Even though Tammy had been in relatively good health leading up to her death, she had been buried without an autopsy.
Chad cashed in on Tammys $430,000 life insurance policy and married Lori less than two weeks after her death.
Tammys body was subsequently exhumed.
And finally, the death of Loris brother, Alex Cox, who we predict will be blamed for the majority of the murders. Could Lori and Chad have contributed in some way to his death? Or did he really die of natural causes?
Unlike Lori Vallow, if Chad is found guilty, he faces the death penalty.
