GATE OF AIR (Book 1):
The Far East is a mysterious place of legend to Northlanders like Frayka. Only an old map can show her how to get there. Once she arrives, all of Frayka's sensibilities put her in danger. And every dangerous turn delays her from finding the dragon gods whose help she so desperately needs.
Although Frayka looks like a Far Easterner, she is a powerful Northlander warrior who is quick to voice her thoughts. She is trained to fight and won't hesitate to do so.
But everything about Frayka puts her in deadly peril in the Far East, where the laws are strict and the punishment cruel.
Especially when the one being punished is a woman.
GATE OF EARTH (Book 2):
For the first time in her life, Frayka is alone.
Separated from family and friends, she must pursue the task given to her by the Northlander gods of her home country: to find the dragon gods of the Far East and convince them to make amends for all the harm they've done.
Frayka travels through a hostile country whose customs are unknown to her. Every word she speaks - every action she takes - could unwittingly offend those around her and bring about disaster.
Frayka must keep her wits about her. Unless she can find someone to guide her through the cultural landmines she now faces, each step Frayka takes threatens to place her in peril.
GATE OF FIRE (Book 3):
Frayka knows she must defy a dragon god.
The uncomfortable tug of a new scar reminds Frayka of her recent brush with death. She is still healing and not yet at her best.
The dragon claims Frayka lives only because he helped her. Whether his claim is true or simply a ruse for keeping her under his control, she has no idea.
But today is the day to find out.
GATE OF WATER (Book 4):
Frayka's back is against the wall.
After enduring grueling journeys and punishing challenges in the Far East, she is close to succeeding in her task of convincing the dragon gods of the Far East to make amends to the Northlander gods - but the final step now looks impossible.
If Frayka can't complete that final step, then everything she has accomplished has been for nothing. If she fails, the cost will be her life and the lives of everyone she loves.
All the while, Frayka must make sense of who she has always been as a Northlander and who she might have been as a Far Easterner. Although deeply rooted in her sense of herself as a Northlander, Frayka sees that there's more to her than she ever could have imagined.
