It was a normal night like any other. I was working late, desperate to pay off my debt and graduate. They took me when I was walking home, strange faces in the shadows, away from the normal world to a massive city hidden beneath the Nevada desert. Varcosa city, the city of vampires.
After I’m ripped off the bus with the others my captors take me straight to auction. They force me onto stage and tell me to dance like my life depends on it—because it does. I’ve already heard whispers of House Berith, a dark and depraved vampire clan with no limits. Guess who wins the auction?
But that’s when he comes out of the shadows, an angel of darkness, a furious force of reckoning that rips me from the jaws of evil and takes me away. He says I’m his, he says we’re fated, he says this entire city belongs to him.
He disciplines me, he punishes me, he bends me over his knee and his strong hands reduce me to a howling and pitiful servant. Together we’re forced into hiding, two souls lost in a city of chaos and violence, a clueless girl and her vampire captor, up against the odds. Up against everything.
He says we’re destined to be together, fated to be at one another’s side.
As much as I hate to admit it, I think he might be right.
