Daniel José Older is the author of Half-Resurrection Blues (book one of the Bone Street Rumba urban fantasy series from Penguins Roc Books) and the upcoming Young Adult novel Shadowshaper (Scholastics Arthur A. Levine Books, 2015). Publishers Weekly hailed him as a rising star of the genre after the publication of his debut ghost noir collection, Salsa Nocturna. That Self-Same Metal (2023)
(Forge & Fracture Saga, book 1)
Brittany N Williams
"Seamlessly weaves together history, fantasy, culture, magic, and love . . . I couldn't stop reading it, and when I finished all I wanted was more. Joan Sands may be a hero in another era, but also she's the one we urgently need in books right now."

There Goes the Neighborhood (2023)
Jade Adia
"Outstanding. This book packs such a fierce, fantastic punch in the best possible way. I devoured it and still wanted more. Alive with love and fully awake to the joy, hilarity, rage, and heartache of this broken world, There Goes the Neighborhood fires on all cylinders and takes no prisoners."

Pilar Ramirez and the Escape from Zafa (2022)
(Pilar Ramirez Duology, book 1)
Julian Randall
"I love this book so much. Julian Randall is a brilliant, refreshing new voice in young people's literature and he has imbued this story with a whole mountain of love, humor, honesty, and adventure. Pa'lante!"
