From Bestselling Paranormal Romance Author Lisa Olsen - Book Three of The Company
Editorial Review
The Company of Lies continues the story with Cady and Ethan scrambling to avoid the Company by hiding in the very last place they'd ever think to look for her. The plan is simple - forge new papers, go down to South America where it's warm and they can lay low for a while and figure out their next move. But Cady's demon passenger isn't quite as bound as the Company promised, and it leads to a whole nest of problems as it slowly takes over her life. Even with Rikard's help, they're hard pressed to come up with a solution to the problem that doesn't come with at least some disadvantages.
I was so glad to see Ethan recovering from his bout with Ash and finding his sense of self again. Sadly, poor Ethan's murky past is still threatening to catch up with him, and I hope the author explores that more in the next book. Conversely, I loved getting to learn more about Rikard's past and what makes him tick. The fact that he's gone rogue to help them is very telling as to just how deep his feelings run for her, even if he does continue to act like an asshat on most days.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - my favorite part of this series (apart from the sexy man-candy) is Cady's gumption. I love how willing she is to fight for the people she loves, come what may. It was a real treat to see more of Cady's family and watch her work through some issues there, though I'm guessing holiday gatherings will still be tense for a while. I really enjoyed the deepening of the Company politics and the mythology of the demons in this world. It truly feels like this reality could exist within our own.
Product Review
Cady and Ethan are on the run from the Company, but there's no escaping the trouble they brought with them. The demon Cady was bound with isn't as dormant as they first thought, and it's desperate to be free. How many times will Cady have to wake up in strange circumstances before she realizes her life isn't her own? Crippled without his usual contacts, Ethan is desperate to hold onto Cady and find the help she needs - but is it enough? Is Rikard the one who can keep Cady safe and satisfy the demon inside her? Layer upon layer of deceit muddy the waters until it's impossible to find the right path. In the end, Cady is left with a terrible choice - submit to the Company or the demon who's taken over her life.
