Susan Ouellette

Susan Ouellette is a former intelligence analyst for the CIA. Her debut novel, THE WAYWARD SPY, to be released from CamCat Books on March 2nd, 2021, heavily draws on her academic studies of international relations and Russian language and culture at both Harvard University and Boston University. As the Soviet Union teetered on the edge of collapse, she worked as an intelligence analyst at the CIA, where she earned a commendation for her work done during the failed 1991 Soviet coup.Subsequently,
Ouellette worked on Capitol Hill as a professional staff member for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). There, she participated in several overseas staff and congressional delegations focused on intelligence cooperation with allies and classified operations against adversaries.
It was there, during quiet moments in the attic of the of the U.S. Capitol Building, that Ouellette conceived of Maggie Jenkins in THE WAYWARD SPY, an intrepid young woman thrust into a life-threatening situation borne of tragedy. “She has walked the halls of the House Intelligence Committee and the CIA and knows those institutions as very few novelists do,” says Dr. Mark M. Lowenthal, former CIA Assistant Director for Analysis and former Staff Director, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “Susan Ouellette has written a well-crafted page-turner that benefits not only from her imagination and way with words—but from her experience.”
