The Wildfire Season

Miles McEwan has been hiding for years. No one has really got close -- no one except the ghost of the young man, whose burnt and charred presence haunts him; a painful reminder of the fire that changed his life and scarred his face. But the past and the flames rise up like a Pheonix as, Emma, the girlfriend Miles left five years previously and, Rachel, the enigmatic 5-year-old daughter he never even knew he had, arrive into the stark loneliness of his new home -- Ross River, a place 'lost everywhere but on the government maps'. But as Miles begins fighting the emotions that this painful reunion has brought and desperately pushing away any new opportunites, a rampant fire starts which threatens to engulf the town and all its inhabitants. Pretty soon Miles is in a race to keep his family alive, and is given a chance to relive that fateful day when so much that was good turned bad.
