Although Erin Pizzey wrote this book in the 1980s it's still topical and extremely educational. The author wrote the book to document her extensive experience of working with 'violence prone' women in the first women's refuge. Her theories lost popularity because Erin dared to suggest that some women have a tendency to repeatedly gravitate towards violent relationships. Her hypothesis about the reasons for this was decades ahead of its time and has since been proven by findings in neuroscience. The over-production of adrenalin and the bio-chemical need to maintain these high levels constitutes an addiction which leads people into dangerous, destructive behaviours, amongst them violent relationships. Anyone who's experienced this will recognise Erin's words and thereby have an inroad to change things for the better. Good luck and God bless on your journey to recovery.
