A Fayrene Preston Romance Classic.
Jerome Mailer had settled in for a Scotch at Charlie's Bar. He was in the mood for mindlessness after a hard day's work, and that's just what Charlie's Bar offered.
Then suddenly a beautiful woman slipped into the chair in front of him, telling him her name was Jennifer, and asking him if he would like to take her to a hotel for the night. To say he was tempted was an understatement. Still, there was something else going on here, other than a not-so-casual attempt at a pick up.
Something wasn't right. There were too many rules. Besides giving her name as Jennifer and refusing to give him a last name, she told him she'd feel more comfortable in a hotel. Furthermore, she wanted to take a cab instead of his car. And she didn't want him to register under his own name. And once in their room, she didn't relax. She kept pacing and checking the locks.
Beautiful and mysterious, she might have been every man's fantasy, but Jerome knew trouble when he saw it. He should have gotten up and walked out. Maybe even given her a handful of money to help her. But this woman was an enigma and Jermone just couldn't let her go, not yet.
