These Jimmie Dale books are solid if a little repetitive. This one had a great twisty plot full of disguises and smugglers and murders. It's set in New York City and on Long Island during prohibition. Dale and his fiancee make up a sort of vigilante team bringing crooks to justice when they've managed to elude the cops.
