The Left-Handed God

During the battle of Freiberg 1763, an officer falls. The dying man begs young Ensign Franz von Langdorff to deliver a letter to his father, but Franz, subsequently severely wounded himself, returns home a cripple, unable to honor this promise or support his impoverished family. The letter, however, holds a deadly secret, and someone is willing to kill for it. Before the debt of honor can be paid, Franz is attacked, the letter is stolen, his family loses everything, and his sister falls into the hands of the killer.
This is coming-of-age novel with action and mystery, and a charming love story. It portrays eighteenth century manners as a young man confronts his deepest fears and a young woman finds unexpected love.
