(2021)
A Story by

A luminous retelling of the classic fairy tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon.

Elin has grown up reading fairy tales. She knows the names of dragons and heroes and the dark elves and the light. She knows all the stories, but she doesn’t believe a single one. Such tales are for others and Elin is a practical young woman, the daughter of a fisherman who expects to marry a fisherman one day and bear sons who will join their father pulling fish from the sea. There is no room in her world for magic.

Jarle is a lord trapped by a dark enchantment, a man who must wear the shape of a bear by day and suffer as a man by night until he finds a love strong enough to break the curse laid on him by his stepmother, a powerful witch. When he falls in love with Elin, he hopes that she is the woman who will set him free, but to his dismay, her actions only make things worse.

To rescue her love and make things right, Elin must travel to Niflheim, a realm of primordial ice and cold that lies east of the sun, and west of the moon. There she must use all of her wits to confront the witch who imprisoned Jarle inside the beast, and her odious half-troll daughter who aims to claim him for her own.

There is no temperature at which love freezes.
