The Murder Game

(1970)
A novel by

For Fred Crandal it started the morning he stepped outside and saw the body floating in the pond. After that, even when he was arrested for murder, then freed on bail, and despite the fact that Detective Sergeant Fenwick was certain Fred had not murdered Carl Chalmers, his notoriety increased steadily. It was Fred's kleptomaniac Norwegian elkhound who caused the first break in the case, and after that, despite the efforts of a hand from beyond the grave, events moved along to their grim conclusion.
